Civil society organisations devoted to realisation of the rule of law, democracy and civil rights urged yet again the competent Committee for Culture and Information of the Assembly to initiate as soon as possible the procedure of selection of the new Commissioner and publicly proposed well-defined criteria for selection of candidates.
The quality of the election process in Lucani was very poor, while the atmosphere on the election day was not in accordance with standards for free and fair elections due to identified cases of pressure on voters, the CRTA election observation mission assessed.
A total of 11.156 citizens (67.7 percent) registered in the voters list voted in local elections in Lucani by 7pm, the CRTA election observation mission stated.

The CRTA election observation mission will observe the election day in Lucani on Sunday, 16th of December. CRTA observers will be deployed at all 43 polling stations in Lucani, while mobile teams will monitor developments outside of polling stations.
The current Commissioner’s mandate is about to expire. Having in mind that the new Law on Personal Data Protection shall come into force in August 2019, and that the reform of the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance is underway, it is extremely important that the new Commissioner be appointed without delay, through a transparent procedure in accordance with the Law and that this function be attributed to the best candidate.
