REACTION OF THE EUROPEAN COURT OF HUMAN RIGHTS TO THE SONIC ATTACK
On April 25, 2025, the European Court of Human Rights issued an interim measure requiring the Government of Serbia to prevent the use of sonic devices against citizens. This decision followed after several civil society organizations, including CRTA, collected more than 3,000 testimonies from demonstrators who were exposed to a sonic attack in Belgrade on March 15, while they were observing a moment of silence to honor the victims of the Novi Sad railway station canopy collapse. At CRTA’s initiative, Earshot, an expert organization specializing in audio forensics, analyzed audio recordings and testimonies from victims and eyewitnesses. The findings of the analysis conclude that there is a high probability that a directed acoustic weapon was used against peaceful citizens.
